Your program may contain much more knee-dominant work than glute-focused work, or your glute exercises may not be progressing. Audit weekly hard sets, exercise selection, load and repetitions, recovery, food intake, and how you measure change. Avoid assuming the issue is simply poor ‘activation.’
Your glute workout may actually be a thigh workout
Squats, leg presses, lunges, split squats, and step-ups all train the glutes, but they also train the thighs. A session containing several versions of those movements can deliver far more knee-dominant volume than its ‘booty workout’ label suggests.
List every hard lower-body set by movement category. If most are mixed or quad-dominant, replace some with bridges, hinges, kickbacks, and abduction work before searching for a special activation drill.
The glute exercises may not be progressing
Repeating the same light band circuit can maintain familiarity without providing a growing challenge. Record load, repetitions, range, and technique for the hip thrust, bridge, hinge, or other main glute exercises.
Progress does not require maximal loading. It requires a trend toward more demanding work that remains technically consistent and recoverable.
Recovery and food may be limiting adaptation
Muscle growth is difficult when training is inconsistent, sleep is poor, or food intake does not support the work. This is especially relevant for naturally slim people who frequently miss meals.
Nutrition advice must fit the individual. Anyone with medical nutrition needs or a history of disordered eating should work with an appropriately qualified professional rather than follow a generic surplus target.
Your measurements may be misleading you
Training pumps, fluid shifts, food, menstrual-cycle changes, tape placement, and posture can change measurements. Use the same time of day, landmarks, tape tension, and conditions.
Review trends every few weeks, not every day. If performance improves and measurements remain stable for a long period, then adjust one program variable and continue observing.
