Stiffness after sitting is common but nonspecific. Change position, walk briefly, and rehearse the training movements through a comfortable range. If range improves as you warm up, progress normally. Persistent pain, catching, numbness, tingling, or limitation in daily life needs assessment.
Start with movement, not a label
A stiff-feeling hip can reflect staying in one position, general inactivity, training fatigue, stress, or a health issue. Do not assume a short hip flexor or an inactive glute without assessment.
Walk for two to five minutes and retest a bodyweight hinge, bridge, or squat in a comfortable range.
Use mobility to support the next exercise
If a gentle hip-flexor stretch or controlled hip rotation clearly improves the following movement, include a short dose. If it does nothing, it does not need to become a ritual.
Build range gradually in the loaded exercise. A supported split squat or low step-up can expose the hip to useful range without forcing an end position.

Know when to seek help
Pain that is sharp, worsening, associated with a fall, or accompanied by numbness, tingling, true weakness, locking, fever, or unexplained weight loss needs a medical assessment, not another mobility drill.
A clinician can assess whether the hip, spine, nerves, or another factor needs attention.
