Protect training quality
Poor sleep can make effort feel harder, reduce concentration, and affect the loads or repetitions you can perform. Even when the biological effect on hypertrophy is difficult to quantify, repeated low-quality sessions can weaken the program in practice.
Interpret laboratory findings carefully
The sleep-deprivation study used a full night without sleep and measured an acute protein-synthesis response. It supports a mechanism for concern, not a claim that one late night erases a week of training.
Improve the repeatable basics
Regular timing, a dark and comfortable room, reduced late-night stimulation, and managing caffeine can help. Persistent insomnia, loud snoring, gasping, or severe daytime sleepiness deserves clinical attention.
